CHILD ENTICEMENT SUSPECTS SOUGHT
There have been several incidents of suspected attempted Child Enticements across the city this summer.
On 07-08-09 at 1:29PM, the Stow Police Department responded to 5462 Young Rd in reference to a (13) year old male who stated that he had been confronted by two Hispanic males who asked him to get into the car with them.
The boy stated he was riding his bicycle in the 2700 block of Serra Vista when an older red or maroon car, 4 dr sedan, unknown make/model, he described as a “beater”, drove up to him and the driver said, “Hey kid…Do you want a ride?” The victim answered he did not and the driver stated, “Get in.” The juvenile said he was scared and fled the area through the back yards until he went to a friend’s house at 5462 Young Rd. where a parent called the Department.
The two suspects are described as follows:
Police officers checked the area but did not find the suspects. This incident is now the seventh (7th) such incident that has occurred within the City since 05-17-09 and is similar to an incident that occurred on 06-02-09 in the 1900 block of Marhofer Ave. when two Hispanic males in an older red car approached a young female.
The Stow Police Department asks anyone with information on this latest incident or the previous ones to contact the Detective Bureau at 330.689.5734.
On 05-18-09 at 12:19PM, two (10) yr old girls were working as Safety patrol/crossing guards at Indian Trail School, Kent Rd., when they reported two white males drove into the driveway in a pickup truck. The driver asked the girls if they wanted some candy and said, “If you want some candy, get into the truck.” When the girls didn’t respond, the driver left, but made a U-turn and came back so the passenger spoke to them. The passenger held some candy out of the window and asked them to get into the truck. The girls reported neither occupant exited the vehicle and the said they ran off to report the incident to the school staff.
The truck is described as teal green (possibly a Chevrolet Avalanche 4x4) with dark rear window tinting and “4x4” stickers on the rear quarter panels.
