What is the Adopt-A-Spot Beautification Project?

Adopt-A-Spot is a volunteer activity sponsored by the City of Stow that is great for individuals or families, groups, civic organizations and businesses.  The City has a continued need for volunteers who are interested in keeping Stow beautiful.  Anyone of any age can become part of the solution!  The purpose of the project is to beautify our community.  With 60 city-owned flowerbeds, adoptees are needed to plant and maintain these sites.

Your Commitment

Adoptees are responsible for planting the site, maintaining it, weeding and deadheading it weekly.  Before the program begins, Adopt-A-Spot volunteers are required to participate in a brief seminar which offers site information and planting guidelines.  Participants are also required to be available on planting day to plant their sites.

Your Reward

The City of Stow will post signs at each site to recognize the service of the volunteers who are responsible for adopting the area.  In addition, at one of their meetings, City Council will host a recognition ceremony to acknowledge the commitment of the participants.

This is a fun project that people of all ages can participate in!
Here's how it works:
  • The City of Stow designates a flowerbed site on city property;
  • The City prepares the site and provides the flowers;
  • You and/or your group plant the flowers;
  • The City waters and fertilizes the site as needed;
  • You and/or your group continually maintain the site for the duration of the season.
